About Tawana Johnson

President of Peculiar Treasure

Tawana Johnson is the President of Peculiar Treasure, a nonprofit, faith-based organization working to eradicate sex trafficking in the United States. Peculiar Treasure is committed to cultivating healthy relationships with victims and survivors of sex trafficking to show them that they are made in the image of GOD, as well as provide financial support to victims and survivors for housing, medical bills, education, and triage facilities.

In addition to her work with Peculiar Treasure, Tawana has served at the U.S. Institute Against Human Trafficking as a victim advocate with the Project Reach-out program, in which she engaged with women and men who were selling themselves and/or being trafficked online. As part of a team which provided resources for over a hundred women and men, Tawana cultivated relationships with survivors and shared resources to help them escape from their trafficking situation. Currently Tawana works with the U.S. Institute Against Human Trafficking’s boys safe home; the first of its kind in the nation. She works directly with trafficked youth to rehabilitate them from the trauma they’ve experienced and help them grow into healthy, productive members of their communities. Tawana also has over 20 years of volunteer experience working inner-city youth. She has eight years experience working directly with vulnerable children at Everyday Blessings, and 2 years spent engaging in “strip club outreach” in Tampa, FL. Tawana is currently working towards a Bachelors of Counseling degree with Life Christian University, with an anticipated completion date in 2023.

Sophia Kinsey

Treasurer

Sophia Kinsey is a Vice President of Regions Bank, for the Natural Resources and Real Estate group within the Private Wealth Management department in Tampa, Florida. Sophia is responsible for the management of commercial and residential assets held in trusts, estates and agencies. These responsibilities include taking possession of assets, coordinating management, evaluating and recommending investment potential and opportunities. Property management services include assessment reviews, leases and their negotiations, all inspections, appraisals, maintenance and repairs. Sophia handles all insurance and tax payments in addition to property purchases, sales and contract negotiations.

Sophia has served the industry in various rolls for 27 years. She served as the Regional Service Audit Executive for Hillsborough County at Bank of America and Branch Manager for BB&T before joining Regions Bank. Sophia managed multiple branches providing support to many teammates. Her responsibilities included compliance, risk management, auditing, as well as residential/commercial lending.

Since joining the Natural Resources and Real Estate team in 2018 Sophia has managed a portfolio full of commercial and residential assets, which include problem solving clients’ needs from various backgrounds. Realizing the importance of protecting the client and helping them with their financial goals has put Sophia’s past experiences into play in her role as a Property Manager/Trust Officer.

Sophia studied business administration at St. Petersburg College, and currently holds her Florida State Adjuster’s and Florida Real Estate licenses. She is actively pursuing further education on becoming a Certified Property Manager through the Institute of Real Estate Management.

In addition to all business ventures Sophia is actively involved in multiple volunteer and charity boards. Her volunteer passions for supporting cancer research and development are inspired from the loss of her father at a young age. Relay for Life, My Hope Chest, Susan G. Komen and the National Cancer Association are ranked the top of her long list of community outreach.
